If you’re reading this, it means you’re one of the stubborn few who still believes news should tell you what happened, not what you’re supposed to think about it.

My name’s Oliver.

I’m a Western Canadian, old‑stock Conservative - born and raised in a country that used to value plain speech, hard work, and minding your own business. I’m not a racist or any other kind of ist nor am I any kind of phobe.

I come from the side of Canada that digs the wells, runs the rigs, raises cattle, farms grains, trucks the goods, and pays the bills while being lectured by people who’ve never seen the inside of a shop, a field, or have even gotten their hands dirty.

You and I live in a media environment that pretends to be neutral while speaking a dialect only a downtown newsroom could love. The big outlets will tell you they’re “just following the facts,” then turn around and bury the facts under layers of spin, selective experts, and adjectives carefully chosen to push you in the “right” direction. They almost never lie outright. They don’t have to. They just choose the frame, the words, and the parts of the story that suit the narrative they’ve already settled on.

That’s why I’m stepping in.

Here’s what you can expect from me.

I will read the news stories so that you don’t have to, and show you how the trick is done - which words were used to tilt the table, which numbers were left out, which voices were never invited.

I’ll give you the straight goods as if the priority were honesty instead of liberal optics.

I will ask the questions our “professional communicators” somehow never get around to asking, especially when the answers might embarrass Ottawa, corporate boardrooms, or activist groups.

I’m not here to be “non‑partisan.” I’m here to be transparent. You’ll always know where I stand, and I’ll show my work so you can check it yourself. My promise is simple, in that there’ll be no weasel words, no euphemisms, no pretending that carefully curated half‑truths are “the conversation Canada needs to have.”

You may not agree with me on every issue. Good. That’s healthy. But if you’ve ever read a headline and thought, “That’s not the whole story,” you’re in the right place.
